What is conflict coaching?
In our professional lives, we come across situations and challenges that may lead to conflict, eg with a team member or a line manager. This can be for a number of reasons, such as personality differences, pressures of work or disagreement about work in hand. However, with conflict coaching, it is the responses we can have that is the critical pivot, such as fight, flight, freeze or fawn. In any of these cases, we can often benefit from talking through the issue with an external person who can coach us on how to work through the problem (including needs and interests) and find a resolution (which also helps us understand our conflict style).
What I can offer?
I offer 1-1 conflict coaching utilising models such as GROW & COACH to help the employee negotiate a specific or future challenges by equipping them with broader strategies or skills to be resilient and independent in their approach going forward.
During the intervention I will challenge the employees personal perspective while considering performance and effectiveness. Furthermore, I will explore past conflicts, preparation for difficult conversations and understanding reactions to conflict to identify options for future conflicts. This holistic approach gives ownership to the employee and power to building robust solutions.
Conflict coaching can and should be completely bespoke to the employees needs.
